Finding Your Way

Survive and Thrive is an on-line conference and resource centre, dedicated to beginning teachers in their first five years of professional practice, occasional teachers, teacher candidates and mentor teachers.

We have a number of activities available, which you may access in any order and at any time. Guests to our conference are welcome to read and download the materials provided in our activity centres, but only teacher participants can actually enter information and participate in our interactive sessions.

Subject Matters

In addition to the site themes listed above, Survive and Thrive also includes a focus on the teaching of specific subject areas. In English, we look at teaching Social Studies/Sciences, Math, the Arts and Science. In French, we focus on teaching Guidance, Math, the Arts and français.

Mentoring

This section of our site has been created especially for Mentor Teachers involved in the New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP) in Ontario.

What's a conference without a keynote presentation? You may view, listen to, or read the text of, our exciting keynote presentations at any time on or after the dates on which they are posted.

Resources
A listing of resources is provided for each of our topics. The documents can be read on-line, downloaded and/or printed. To access our resource lists, choose the Resources button on the navigation bar on the left-hand side of your screen.

In our Teaching Links section, you will find a listing of interesting websites to which you can connect directly. For your easy reference, the list has been organized according to our site themes.

Let's Talk

If you're interested in discussing your thoughts and ideas with colleagues across the province, you've come to the right place. Let's Talk provides both general and thematic discussion areas . Post comments, questions and observations about conference topics, and dialogue with other beginning teachers.

Our discussions are available in both English and French.

Current and previous Let's Talk sessions for most topics can be accessed via the navigation table that will appear on your screen.
